global ripgrep ignore file
I’ve been using this hack to have a global ripgrep ignore file for a bit:
in ~/bin/rg
#!/usr/bin/env bash
/bin/rg --ignore-file "${HOME}/.config/rgignore" "$@"
in ~/.config/rgignore:
.agent-shell*
.aider*
*.svg
.svn
janet.c
janet.h
# magit:
COMMIT_EDITMSG
*.vtl
―― 🙥 ――
bonus
related: this og script I have:
#!/bin/sh
# call the original version of some thing in $PATH
og=$1
shift
"$(type -a "$og" | tail -n 1 | sed -E "s/${og}//;s/ is //;")" "$@"
Which lets the ~/bin/rg invocation become og rg instead of a full path.
